Research Experience for Teachers at Northwestern University
Northwestern University’s Materials Research Science and Engineering Center offers an 8-week paid Research Experience for Teachers. K-12 teachers and community college professors conduct research in the laboratories of some of the best professors at Northwestern. Projects are available in a variety of fields including ceramics, materials science, polymers, molecular electronics, nanoscience and biomaterials. In addition to conducting research, participants create classroom curriculum projects that they take back to their home institutions to help inspire their students. Teachers who have at least a bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents are eligible. The program pays $8500 for 8 weeks of full-time participation.
